Reasons Why Residents Love Living in Lantana, Texas

Deciding where to live in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex (DFW) can be daunting. This is especially true if you aim to purchase a luxury home in a secluded, amenity-rich community. One that keeps DFW's world-class conveniences close but also allows you and your family a low-key, laid-back lifestyle.
 
Thankfully, a handful of communities across the region tick every box on your residential wishlist. One such location is the master-planned community of Lantana. Almost perfectly centered between Interstate 35W and Interstate 35E, 10 miles due south of Denton, Lantana is one of the most centralized communities in the entire DFW region. To reach the metroplex's three principal cities of Dallas, Arlington, and Fort Worth, each trip is 35 miles from Lantana. If you're heading to DFW International Airport, it's a 20-minute drive to any terminal.

The location

While it's a relatively easy drive to many of the area's central locations and attractions, Lantana is also situated in one of the region's more remote locales. To reach I-35W or I-35E is a seven-mile drive in either direction.

With any master-planned community, there is the expectation of amenities—although what’s promised often doesn’t fully materialize when the development sells its last plot of land, not so with Lantana. From the very beginning, the goal was to create a family-friendly environment where you need not venture far to find something fun to do.
 
Lantana's primary amenities include two community centers, two state-of-the-art fitness facilities, five swimming pools, five lighted tennis courts, a full-size basketball court, a town green, and numerous parks and playgrounds spread throughout the community. You can reach each of the amenities via the safety of the neighborhood sidewalks and trails.
 
Lantana's social calendar includes weekly “Music on the Green” concerts, adult bingo, fitness classes, senior lunches, and children's reading time. Annual events feature a community 5K and 10K run, seasonal festivals, cook-offs, crawfish boil, and special gatherings scheduled around the holidays.

The landscape

The 1,780-acre layout features a bit of everything—rolling terrain, a meandering creek, and several small serene ponds. For the recreational-minded, there's also an extensive network of trails to take in the scenery.
 
Foremost, however, is the abundance of green space and trees. Approximately 300 acres of Lantana’s development is dedicated to greenbelts. Much of that extends along the Loving Branch Creek corridor, creating a lush, tranquil nature preserve running through the heart of the community. In addition, 10,000 trees were planted during Lantana's initial years of development. More than 20 years later, those original plantings have matured and provided Lantana with its distinctive green canopy along with numerous areas of new growth.
 
Even when in the throes of a hot Texas summer, the thoughtful sustainability of Lantana's development provides residents plenty of shade and a respite to extend coveted outdoor activities just a bit longer than in other areas of the DFW metroplex.

The schools

One of the most vital aspects of any neighborhood is the quality of the schools. Lantana is home to five exemplary institutions.

Zoned into the Denton Independent School District, one of the top overall districts in DFW, Lantana counts EP Rayzor Elementary School, Blanton Elementary School, Adkins Elementary School, and Harpool Middle School as part of the community. The North Star Academy child care and developmental center is located within Lantana's boundaries. It offers year-round child care and grade-appropriate after-school and summer programs.
 
To further the community's commitment to education, Lantana has also established the Lantana Education/Charitable Foundation to enhance the resident's quality of life, support cultural, educational, and charitable activities, and support infrastructure projects that strengthen a resident's enjoyment of Lantana. It's funded through one-half of one percent of the re-sale of property sold within Lantana.

The golf course


Lantana Golf Club was plucked directly from the majestic landscape of Texas Hill Country and carefully placed amongst the rolling terrain in southern Denton County. Once you set foot upon the lush fairways and pristine greens of this 18-hole Jay and Carter Morrish design, you realize there is indeed some truth in advertising.
 
The challenging yet exceptionally fun to play layout traverses 7,147 yards from the tips, with three other sets of tees allowing for various levels of play. As one of the area's top clubs, Lantana is rich with amenities, including an expansive practice range and the short-game regions, club-sponsored leagues, a fully stocked pro shop, regular golf tournaments, and a junior program.
 
As much a social club as a golf club, Lantana features a beautiful clubhouse facility.
