5 Reasons to Consider Small-Town Living in Argyle, TX

Just a stone’s throw from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Argyle, TX is as “small town” as they come, with a population of just over 3,000.

But because of its proximity to big cities, this charming little town offers the best of both worlds and is ideal for raising a family or simply escaping the noise and traffic associated with city living.

If you don’t think small-town living is for you, you might want to consult an experienced Argyle realtor to consider some of the great reasons why Argyle could become your paradise!

Magnificent properties

Because of its proximity to one of the most prominent areas in Texas, Argyle may be small, but its homes are anything but. (Yes, as they say, everything is bigger in Texas, and Argyle properties don’t disappoint.) An experienced Argyle realtor can get you started.

Argyle luxury homes are not only expansive, with plenty of space for family heirlooms, art, and elbow room, but they are also located on large pieces of land, providing the privacy you could never have living in a downtown Dallas/Fort Worth condo.

Whether you choose a multi-acre property that would have been the envy of Oliver Douglas, the luckless farmer of “Green Acres” fame, or select a massive estate instead, you’re sure to find something special with the help of an experienced Argyle realtor.

Ranches have outbuildings, ponds, and homes built with a sense of rustic elegance, while estates with guest homes (ideal to provide privacy for both parties) are fairly common, as are homes with myriad bedrooms. Because the Texas landscape is rustic, many homes offer overhead wood beams and stone fireplaces to celebrate the outdoors, and large properties provide many opportunities for the right buyer.

Horse farms are standard property options, so if you are an equestrian, Argyle luxury homes won’t disappoint. If you don’t want all that land to care for but still want to enjoy the small-town living Argyle has, its downtown offers homes with neatly manicured lawns that bring luxury without massive acreage.

Great schools? Argyle has them

The town of Argyle has five schools, and the education system there is considered one of the best in Texas. The Argyle School District ranked 8th among all in Texas, earning an A+ score from the website niche.com. Argyle is the smallest school district to land a spot on the 2022 Top 10 list of Texas schools by niche.com, which ups its prestige factor even more.

Abundant outdoor recreation opportunities

Near Grapevine's Rockledge Park is ideal for those who love walking and biking trails and other outdoor recreation.

Located on the picturesque Lake Grapevine, visitors can swim, kayak, walk their dogs and pack a picnic on the craggy cliffs overlooking the lake. On Friday nights in the summer, the park stays open late for a firework show at dusk.

Argyle is home to great food

While it is hard to imagine a town with such a small population offering upscale dining, Argyle is not that place.

There are numerous high-end restaurants available nearby, including:

  • Hannah’s. This Denton restaurant takes advantage of the best ingredients North Texas has to offer and features a menu of Southern-forward cuisine, including apps such as shrimp and grits (different at every restaurant, so worth often ordering if it is a dish you love) and fried green tomatoes, followed by globally-infused entrees such as chicken saltimbocca, ahi tuna, smoked duck breast, Wagyu beef cheek ravioli, and other decadent items. Hannah’s also offers brunch — huevos rancheros, Grand Marnier French toast, and brisket burger are the highlights — that’s a perfect start to a lazy day spent touring Argyle luxury homes.

  • Queenie’s Steakhouse. Also located in Denton, Queenie’s is ideal for adventurous diners, as it features a wild game-rich menu that’s pure innovation. Think elk and foie gras sliders with blueberry jam, buffalo rib eye, homemade rabbit and rattlesnake sausage alongside fish, steak and pork dishes served alongside surprise ingredients that make this restaurant a one-of-a-kind treat.

  • Prime. This farm-to-table restaurant is located in nearby Flower Mound and offers a prix fixe three-course menu with several items from which to choose. Start with a soup or salad, choose from an array of delicious entrees ranging from bone-in Wagyu ribeye (dry aged) to grilled quail and pan-seared red snapper, along with other intriguing options, followed by dessert. The key lime tart has the most reviews (all good), but the flourless chocolate torte served with raspberry ganache to cut through the cake's richness also sounds irresistible.

No matter which restaurant you choose, if you plan to indulge in cocktails, get an Uber or Lyft to help you get home safely.

Argyle is a stone’s throw from upscale shopping

While Argyle is not known for its retail therapy, Dallas is the perfect place for upscale shopping.

Highland Park Village is home to numerous upscale shops where you can likely snag an incredible new Birkin, a pair of red-soled Christian Louboutin shoes, Alexander McQueen or Carolina Herrera ready-to-wear, and so much more.

While located on the same street, The Shops at Highland Park is different but just as luxurious as Highland Park Village. The Shops of Highland Park feature a wide array of unique boutiques, the perfect place to find one-of-a-kind items, so you don’t show up at a dinner party wearing the same Tom Ford top as the guest across the table.

According to the establishment’s website, the Shops at Park Lane are located on the most-shopped intersection in Dallas. It offers a something-for-everyone vibe that is relaxed and comfortable for any shopper.
